Tinseltown

Name: Tinseltown
Location: Leicester

A true American diner, Tinseltown is bright, colourful and musical. The atmosphere is fun and there is always something to look at with the celebrity portaits and autographs lining the walls. When I went to eat at Tinseltown with a group of friends, the first thing I realised about the food was the price, each of the items on the menu had a rather high price (even the drinks) and I knew instantly that this wasn't a place I would eat at regularly. The food itself was enjoyable when it arrived (service was rather slow) however I was not happy when a side I ordered with my main turned up cold.

The choice of Desserts was very interesting with huge ice creams and large slices of chocolate cake, I decided to try a Forrero Rocher Sundae and what came back was a small McDonalds sized pot with vanilla and chocolate ice cream and three Forrero Rocher chocolates stuck on top, needless to say I was a little unimpressed especially for the amount I payed for it.

Overall, I would say that for parties and large family outings, Tinseltown would be a good venue to choose however if your trying to save money I wouldn't recommend eating here.

The Real China

Name: The Real China
Location: Leicester

A lovely night out for families and large parties, The Real China offers a large selection of dishes with an all you can eat offer. The food itself is delicious and there is something for everyone. Although the food is wonderful, the cost of drinks can burn a hole in your wallet if your not careful. For students, this venue would be best for a casual night out with friends or a birthday party rather than for an everyday lunch.

The French Chef

Name: The French Chef
Presenter: Julia Child
Channel: WGBH (formally, No Longer Airing)

She was the woman who taught America to cook through co-authoring the masterpiece "Mastering The Art of French Cooking" and she took it further with this series, Julia Child was one of the greatest things in history to happen to cooking.

Although originally broadcasted in America, I watched the French Chef online from the UK and was captivated by her enthusiasm towards cooking and the marvelous dishes she produced. From cooking omlettes to steaming lobsters, Julia would show you that something you would have thought only a master chef could accomplish, was something you could do in your own kitchen and she would do it with a smile and sharp wit. From the episodes that I watched, my favorite was the Queen of Sheba Cake and I have tried it myself and not only was it easy to create, it was also delicious. A definite top class show to watch, a small part of the legacy left by an amazing chef.
